A Southern California dweller, a new talent has cut through the noise and garnered the support of mau5trap. A mystery operating by the name of Sysdemes, said producer has manifested a dark and brooding experimental vision within the underground dance realm, befitting of one aiming to bring change to a saturated scene. Youth is the harbinger—a four-track compilation brimming with moody authenticity.

"Stylistically, my Youth EP is a great representation of myself as an artist," Sysdemes shares. "I enjoy producing a few different styles, and these are all present on the EP.  I wanted there to be a balance between the melodic and the aggressive." The careful balancing act is evident, each track layered on top of the next for a succinct deduction into his sound.

Focus track "Prime, Pulse" opens Youth with a flair, redefining darkness with a diverse assemblage of tech-house beats. "I started writing "Prime, Pulse" with a dark club in mind, wanting something that would fit that aesthetic," the producer elaborates. "I kept a lot of the elements of the track low-passed as to not let too many high frequencies out, keeping a subdued atmosphere. I think this really helped bring the track together." It's a successful foray into the darker side of the scene, and Sysdeme's clever use of vocal reverbs only elevate the chilling ambiance.

"Blur – Broken Edit" continues the gritty soundscape with layers of percussion and industrial rumbles, exuding melodic brilliance with his cunning hooks and modulating drums. A revelation in sorts, the track picks up an industrial, dub-techno feel—powerfully aggressive yet all the while, calming. On the hand, "The Lies You Tell" sees the producer revert to tech-house familiarity, synths snaking through the bass for an ice-cold audial experience. Finally, "Only If" rounds off Youth with a calming affair, worldly cadences intact for an overall infectious chant.

Pronounced Sys-dem-es, Sysdemes is an electronic music producer from San Diego, California. He was introduced to electronic music early in life and has been interested in it ever since. Now at the young age of 23, he has found his own sound, melding progressive, house and techno for a wholly unique listening experience; this gives him versatility as a creator, an agency in creating dark bass lines to the most heartwarming of melodies. With multiple releases hitting #1 on Beatport and the support of mau5trap, Sysdemes is a rising artist that should not be ignored.
