Ty Dolla $ign just called upon J. Cole to deliver this smoothly sampled single, possibly off his upcoming project. Ty Dolla $ign has been rumored to be dropping a follow up to his Beach House 3 soon. The track, “Purple Emoji,” uses the same ingredients that Miguel and J. Cole have used for past hits. Clearly, J. Cole has proven time and again that he can complement r&b tracks well. Although titled “Purple Emoji” the track is far from devilish. Instead, it samples gospel group Take 6’s 2006 track, “More Than Ever.” Something interesting to note is that one of the band members is R&B icon Brian McKnight’s brother, Claude McKnight.
Although this may not be the track that will see Ty Dolla $ign toppling the charts like Miguel’s “Power Trip” or “All I Want Is You” it is still a strong showing for both artists. As we wait for the new Ty Dolla $ign project, we'll also be looking out for Revenge of the Dreamers 3 from J. Cole and his Dreamvile collective.
