After months of foreplay, the end is in sight. Ari Lennox has finally announced we're getting her debut album Shea Butter Baby on May 7th. With this news, the Dreamville songstress gives us one last tease in the form of a 4-minute love ballad featuring a lush saxophone from Masego.
Ari's stirring vocals prove once again that her sound is more "turn on" than "turn up". The song moves with purpose—the pace of this thing is seductive to the point of teasing. The drums hardly skip, they saunter to the tune of Ari's vocals and the warm, inviting sax. Though the song contains no cursing, I would label this one not suitable for work just because of how lavish the singer is with her story.
The whole team at Dreamville has been busy as of late; with J. Cole teasing the Revenge of the Dreamers 3 tape, EARTHGANG's Mirrorland, and Ari's upcoming tape, it's a wonder any of these people have time to sleep. Lucky for fans, we get to benefit from this incredible work rate.
