Self-proclaimed cross-genre emcee Gi Major blends the rugged styles from her NY backdrop and fiery vibes of UK Grime. Not one to be held back by constraints or excuses, she is out on the field putting work the only way she knows how by sticking to her guns with accurate aim. On her latest endeavor, she crafts a four-track body of work titled 'Open UP', a project that is made up of tracks with grime, hip-hop/trap, and R&B elements. Her aim is to raise the bar at every turn and on every track as she offers a variety from start to finish. When it comes to bars, she has them in stock. She can also deliver melodically while switching up the flows and subject matter at will. Solemn cuts like "gameplan" show her vulnerable side to some extent. The 'Open UP' may be short for a reason as it gives a glimpse of Major's abilities without watering them down. The hybrid of sounds makes it pretty engaging courtesy of NYC producers Oskuro and Amen, as well as two productions from UK-based producers, OH91 and Clonez. The only feature on the project is from UK act MC Jumanji on the vibrant joint "Anyway".
Currently stationed in Queens, Gi is Co-Founder and MC for NYC-based music collective, EARTHTONE.
