Drax Project delivers fast paced and energetic new visuals in "Woke Up Late" [Video]

A distinctive mixture of jazz, R&B and pop music, Drax Project releases the video for their latest single “Woke Up Late” featuring a strong and captivating vocal performance from Hailee Steinfeld. Highlighting airy pop vocals atop a delicate, infectious beat this coy and candid track details a night out and the morning after.

The video showcases prominent YouTube sensation Liza Koshy in an amusingly refreshing tale filled with charisma and charm. Directed by Jonathon-Singer Vine and produced by Colin Tilley (Selena Gomez, Halsey, Cardi B, Kendrick Lamar), it follows lead singer Shaan Singh as he wakes up in an unfamiliar room, realizing that the girl he met the night before (Liza Koshy) has forgotten her keys on the way to work. The rest of the visuals cut between Shaan's searching and an oblivious Koshy as she dances her way through the sunny streets of Los Angeles. It all cumulates into her being grateful to receive the keys and ready for round two.

"This was our first time shooting a video in LA and we couldn’t have asked for a better group of people to work with," the group explains. "Liza Koshy is an absolute pleasure to be around and we were so grateful that she wanted to be a part of our video! Working with Colin was amazing too. He’s directed some of our favorite videos for some of our favorite artists, so to have the opportunity to work with him was incredible. Fingers crossed we’re able to work with him and his team again in the future!”

Drax Project is an extraordinary marriage of gifted musicianship and irresistibly hooky tracks. This combination, coupled with captivating live shows has led them on a two year run of sold-out venues as both headliners and openers. The four-piece, consisting of Shaan, Matt, Ben and Sam, got their start from busking on the streets of Wellington, NZ and are now playing alongside renowned acts such as Ed Sheeran, Camila Cabello and Lorde. The group acquired a strong fan base after re-working vocal hooks of famous pop songs into saxophone licks. Their cover of Kimbra’s track “Goldtime” went viral catching the interest of an influential producer and soon after signing to a record label.

"Woke Up Late" won 'Single of the Year' at the 2018 Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards and most recently, the act was featured on Famous Dex's "Light" from his top 15 debut album. Currently recording in the studio the Drax Project is gearing up to take the world by storm. Take a listen to “Woke Up Late” out now.
