Written exclusively on baritone guitar, Lauren Lakis releases her highly anticipated haunting EP entitled Sad Girl Breakfast. Narrating the resignation that comes with understanding the cyclical nature of existence, the EP weeps with deep, shadowy tones. Lakis reveals, “Time passes, life changes, relationships come and go, and it just keeps happening in this perpetual dance until we die. It might seem like a bleak outlook, but for me it’s liberating because nothing that happens to us needs to carry so much weight”.

The first track entitled “Right Now” features eerie, chilling vocals atop dreamy psych rock soundscapes and gritty instrumentation. It details the heaviness of the present moment and the constant energy involved in remaining in the here and now. The song conveys how just the simple act of existing can be an immense struggle sometimes.

Another stunningly evocative track is “Goner”. The song showcases deep, intense melodies, ghostly vocals and a melancholy minimal rhythm. “Goner” voices the familiar tale of falling in love again and riding the relationship roller coaster. Not knowing how it may end, there’s an emphasis on savoring every moment, despite the resolution.

Baltimore born and Los Angles based Laren Lakis is inspired by any challenge life throws at her and that conceptually radiates throughout her music. Her hand-crafted rawness roars deep, unscathed by the prevailing winds of today's polite rock. With a fearless energy and signature lo-fi garage rock sound, the songstress is determined to live her life as real and unapologetic as possible.

Challenging herself to lead many different lives, Lakis spent nights writing poetry with junkies in abandoned warehouses, taught English in Prague and Tokyo and was both a stripper and yoga teacher in Baltimore.  She also prides herself in giving back and has found fulfillment mentoring kids with Autism.

Known for narrating some of life’s most desolate moments, Lakis’ use of honest and echoing lyrics will descend into your soul, creating an intimate and genuine connection with the singer. Having garnered critical acclaim, Lauren Lakis resumes that momentum with the release of Sad Girl Breakfast available now.
