Move over Sweden, it's time for a new Scandinavian pop star to take centre stage, and you can call her KING. Hailing all the way from Denmark, KING has first made her debut in 2016 with the single "Promise", and has steadily been releasing rich, emotive pop anthems ever since. Now, with a debut EP on the way, she is releasing its second single "Don't Let Me Down", premiering exclusively today.
"Don't Let Me Down" is the second KING single to be produced by VOID STRYKER (of FKA Twigs, Lana Del Rey work), boasting of a contemporary production that combines skittering drums and euphoric synth lines. All of this is emboldened by the sheer youth dripping through KING's sweet vocals. While the song details content that is mature and personal, it's hard to feel anything but enlightened and reinvigorated when listening to KING. And that is not an easy feat to accomplish when writing about the perils of love. As she describes it, "Love is a risky space. You almost sign up to fail, but if you never take a chance, then you'll never know if you can win. It's not a game, but there's high-risk, high-reward, right? I think we all can relate to that." What we can all relate to is shamelessly bobbing along to this infectious track, making this Danish pop star a true king.
