The release date for Ezra Collective’s intriguing debut album You Can’t Steal My Joy is inching closer and the quintet has offered up another tease with the release of the LP’s third single “What Am I To Do?” The laid back track features effortlessly stylish vocal delivery from fellow U.K. artist Loyle Carner, who is just one of many dynamic guests to be featured on the album, which is set for release on April 26.

Ezra Collective bring the trajectory of hip-hop full circle on songs like “What Am I To Do?” The group comes from a jazz background and each of the five players have undeniably masterful chops, but on the new song they opt for straightforward instrumental parts that could possibly be confused for samples. The difference, and one of Ezra Collective’s greatest strengths, is that having expert musicians cover the parts gives the song a noticeable, albeit subtle, added element of live energy, infusing the production with a human heartbeat. On this track, though, Carner ultimately takes the helm with his slinky flow and clever lyricism. “What Am I To Do?” is another example of Ezra Collective pushing their sound in new directions with impressive results.
