Vampire Weekend's upcoming album, Father of the Bride, is set to drop in May. This morning, the band put out a music video for the record's second single, "Sunflower" featuring Steve Lacy. Lacy is an artist and active member of the alternative R&B band, The Internet.
The music video was directed by Jonah Hill who made a cameo in the band's latest video, "Harmony Hall". The music video for "Sunflower" is shot in Zabar’s, New York's Upper West Side famous emporium. They also show up at Barney Greengrass, a century-old New York deli shop, known for their smoked fish. The last music video that Hill directed was Danny Brown's "Ain't It Funny" in 2017.
The song was written by frontman, Ezra Koenig and produced by Ariel Rechtshaid & Koenig. They released the number alongside "Big Blue".
Vampire Weekend fans were excited to see a cameo from comedian, Jerry Seinfeld. Koenig and the band have expressed their appreciation for the comedian and his hit American-sitcom, Seinfeld. Hip-hop pioneer in visual arts and media, Fab Five Freddy, also made an appearance.
