For those who didn’t know, a quiet kid has a voice too. The McAllen, Texas band called Quiet Kids is premiering a thoughtful new single on EARMILK today entitled “On Your Mind” that explores themes of identity and understanding through speaking one’s mind. The shimmery track is the lead single from the group’s upcoming debut self-titled EP, which is set for release on March 29 via Good Eye Records.

In describing “On Your Mind,” songwriter Andy Peña writes, “People, places, and things pull you in every direction and it’s easy to please any and everyone. If we all just said what was on our minds we’d have much more of an understanding of who we are and what we’re looking for.” The message rings out amid the song’s shuffle feel and gentle synth pads. The theme hits home particularly poignantly in the sweeping hooks where they sing, “Next time say what’s on your mind.” The band exhibits an original sound within the self-described “indie-pop” realm with a soothing blend of electronic and acoustic elements to support the song’s reflective lyrics. With these elements in their favor, it seems apparent that the forthcoming EP will be just the beginning for Quiet Kids.
