H.E.R. speaks to our souls yet again with "Hard Place"

H.E.R., the stage name of Gabriella "Gabi" Wilson, is an American singer-songwriter. The single "Hard Place" follows H.E.R.'s previous EPs released during the second half of 2018, and features the same cover art. This track delicately begins with H.E.R. humming along to the beat over the apparent guitar. Slowly, drums are implemented into the song, complimenting H.E.R.'s velvety voice.

The organic single "Hard Place" is a song about troubled relationships and being plagued with the difficult decision of whether or not to stay with a current lover. She articulates, "But I'd rather fight. Than lose sleep at night. At least you're all mine…I'm gonna have to pick my poison…And even when you 'cause tears. You're the one who wiped them away. Maybe that's the reason I stay." Listeners will be able to relate to H.E.R.'s depiction of the emotionally draining and tricky situation of not knowing whether to give up on someone or continue trying to making it work.

The R&B artist is famously known for her anonymity, which is highlighted by the fact that her eyes are never visible. Ironically, H.E.R. is an acronym for Having Everything Revealed. She seeks to make it about the music rather than about her personally. As a powerful voice for females, she centers her projects around the struggles real women experience and go through. At the young age of 14, she was signed to RCA Records after the exposure she received on Radio Disney's singing contest, Next Big Thing.

H.E.R.'s authentic sound has resonated with fans around the world, earning her almost 11 million monthly listeners on Spotify, and upcoming shows in Paris, Tilburg, London, Indio, Brooklyn, New Orleans, and Dublin.
