It’s important that Brooklyn native TrifeDrew and his talent be at the forefront of the conversation when he is dropping heat like “Baby Mama.” For that reason, I’m going refrain from mentioning his obvious click-bait affiliations. The track is produced by Jahnei Clarke, who Trife has been frequently collaborating with lately.
From the jump the 808’s come in strong, and Trife uses his cadence to compliment the heavy drums well. The beat is simple but dope – it does a lot to emphasize the relationship the two are building. The breaks in the track occur at perfect intervals throughout the song, keeping the listeners ear consistently engaged. Although simple, "Baby Mama" goes to show that TrifeDrew doesn’t need much to make something pop.
This is one of Trife’s strongest releases to date. For “Baby Mama,” Trife opted not to use his more heavily filled auto-tune style found in previous work such as “Headlock” and “Stuck in Dubai.” It’s worth noting that “Stuck in Dubai” was produced by Take A Day Trip, who co-produced "Mo Bamba" among other notable bangers. What does all this mean for TrifeDrew? He is collaborating with heavy hitters to make sure his sound doesn’t fall on deaf ears. All in all, "Baby Mama" is the kind of track you play when you need to get hype, or just enjoy the fact that some dude's baby mother is in your DM’s.
