Caleb Steph is on his way. After being the first artist signed to The 1975’s label, Dirty Hit, he drops his debut single, “Can I Talk.” The Virginia native lets loose for 4 minutes straight in less of a “Can I Talk” tone and more of a “You’re going to listen.” The beat, which samples the ever so classic scream from Mountain’s “Long Red” (A Kanye West favorite) seems to be fitted perfectly to Caleb’s voice. The synths sync with Caleb’s demanding flow as he swerves in and out of the beat, even switching it up a couple of times to keep the listeners ear. The moment you know this song slaps happens right around the 1:22 mark, when the beat breaks and Caleb shows off his versatility only to easily jump back into it.

With Caleb’s brother, Marco McKinnis, budding into a successful music career of his own, it’s clear they’re keeping success in the family. Not to mention, Caleb Steph and Dirty Hit are making sure the track does not fall on deaf ears; opting to exclusively premiere the track on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 radio show. Want to hear more from Caleb? Us too. However, right now Caleb does not have any other official music out. Caleb Steph and his Dirty Hit team have instead chosen to start fresh. Although, with this single leading the forefront, Caleb Steph is off to a strong start at his new home.
