UK hip-hop veteran Lowkey has finally announced his official return to the forefront. After taking years from making music to focus on academics and activism, he blasts back into view with brand new music for 2019 – announcing a new album and first single from it. Aptly titled "The Return Of Lowkey", the single serves as the first of a series of monthly singles leading up to the release of his album. The 7-minute epic joint is a true statement of intent, marking a line in the sand where his next chapter begins, showcasing his bars and craft as a lyrical social commentator he is so famed for. It also features testimonies from Akala, Charlie Sloth and Ghetts in support of his work.
The video ensures to capture the essence of Lowkey from his gripping performances and firebrand style of rap that focuses on real-time issues layered with wit, wordplay and a rapid-fire cadence. We get to see the man in his element from backstage to center stage rocking the crowd with such fiery intent. The chant in the chorus is actually from a live recording taken from a gig he did back in 2016 and sets the pace for the comeback song.
The single is taken from the highly anticipated album ‘Soundtrack To The Struggle 2’ which is out on his own label on 7th April 2019. The album acts as a sequel to his last official album, 2011’s highly acclaimed ‘Soundtrack To The Struggle’ .
