British newcomer Jack Wilton drops his debut solo release on the renowned Repopulate Mars imprint with the two-track Game Over. Since releasing on Shanghaied earlier this year, Wilton has landed firmly on his feet and become one of house music’s most exciting prospects thanks to his playful approach to production built around infectious samples.
Game Over highlights Wilton's talents and his unique production. Aptly named after its use of a nostalgic video game sample (hint: it's Mario time!), title track "Game Over" brings us back to a more carefree time, repurposed with an unyielding bassline for the perfect dancefloor surprise. "I got the idea from my enjoyment of playing my Nintendo 64 as a kid, " Wilton shares. "After having a play around with loads of 8 bit sounds in my bedroom studio, I wanted to create something special with a proper gaming feel."
"Shulgan's Experiment" on the other hand, showcases Wilton's in-depth sound design prowess. A track riddled with buzzy synths, an infectious low-end and a torrential storm of sensual sounds, the documentary samples the producer used only further emphasizes his brazen and bold outlook on production—placing him in dance music's to-watch for list.
