Returning to Repopulate Mars with two infectious cuts, London's Martin Ikin has unveiled his newest EP No No. With a wide-stretching reputation within the electronic music scene and an extensive discography stretching over three decades, Ikin further grounds himself as a prominent tastemaker in dance.
Title track "No No" kicks things off with an effervescent percussive groove, building up into a tantalizing low end. Ikin's clever use of choppy vocals in conjunction with the rumbling hi-hats make for a packed track brimming with funk and urgency. In contrast, "Dope" introduces a more tribal flavour to the EP, delving into a robust drum loop both rambunctious and soothing. Balancing old school synth sounds and a resonating sub bass, Ikin delivers a unique ambiance with the track, effectively grabbing listeners in.
