AFT Raps affiliate Blacksmith returns with a new single and video "Through The Melody" in honor of his late father. The song serves as an open letter from a son to his father and also doubles as a way of coming to terms with his loss.
The tribute is quite alluring and vibrant with its rich guitar arrangement and rousing grooves. Although the subject matter is heavy, the song itself is very uplifting with some soulful additional vocals from Deli Rowe. Blacksmith further explains that the song definitely helped as an outlet for him to alleviate the pressure of the situation at the time.
The visual perfectly captures the overall mood of the song as it splices several homemade videos of Blacksmith and his dad. The video heavily relies on the nostalgic factor as the viewer gets to see the innocent beginnings before reality sets in much later when we see Blacksmith's father in the hospital. It's pretty touching and very appealing to anyone who has ever gone through the process of losing a loved one.
Blacksmith is currently based in Bristol and is finishing up his new album for a spring 2019 release.
