Most of the best music is created with friends. A prime example is Skizzy Mars and Prelow. Their collaborative project is dropping at the end of the month, and their first single "Come A Little Closer" left us needing more from the trio. Today they are back with the second single from the project titled “R U OK?”.
Upon pressing play, you are greeted by a muffled electric guitar. Gradually snaps and 808s join the party. As you near the end, the beat strips back a bit; and you are met with a bass knock that will have you bopping. The vibe of this single could best be described as somewhat of a dark bounce.
Skizzy provides his untouchable melodic flow sharing his relationship issues, and Jesse comes through on the chorus and towards the end of the song to add his sauce to cut. “Jesse had come up with the idea for the hook when I was working on my EP this past spring," Mars shared with us via email, "We started working on this in New York and finished it when we both came out to LA.” The chemistry on this track is undeniable. Skizzy Mars and Prelow go together like peanut butter and jelly.
This joint project “I Can’t Take Me Anywhere” drops November 29. Until then, keep “R U OK?” on repeat.
