BARQ is an Irish genre-fusing four-piece responsible for one of the most unique sounds in the Irish music industry. For their latest single, "I'm Blaming You," the band partnered with prominent Dublin-based artistic collective Diffusion Lab. The result is electric.
"I'm Blaming You" is a wild blend of disco, dance and BARQ's signature quirky, self-described "agrosoul". The track's infectious warmth comes from singer Jess Kav. Her soulful vocal and piercing lyrics stand in stark contrast to the pulsing dance beat. The band says "I'm Blaming You" is "an exploration of our most uncomfortable inner voices," according to the band. They add that it's "a commentary on societal pressures to be successful, accepting, and gracious at all times." This venture was certainly a departure for the band, but rest assured: it slaps.
