Producer and singer-songwriter LEO ISLO makes his return today with a silky smooth new single "Retrograde Now". The Chilean-born, now LA-based artist blurs lines between indietronica and chillwave music. On “Retrograde Now,” Islo paints a bittersweet story of nostalgia and changing relationships. He intricately weaves his vocal work with energetic basslines, airy synth pads, and guitar riffs.
When discussing the single with us, he shared, “I wanted to express what it’s like to love someone even after the realization that you have little in common other than the past you share,” says Islo. “Getting older, you see people change; you see fault-lines develop under bridges you’ve built- and sometimes you take a step back, look in the mirror and realize you’ve changed, too. It was cathartic writing this song for that reason.” With influences like, Jai Paul, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, Toro Y Moi, Caribou, Washed Out, and John Talabot, LEO ISLO, makes his music diverse, with emotional undertones, and instrumental melodies.
