After an eight-month hiatus from releasing originals, the Moving Castle imprint co-founder and pride of the Philippines Chris Gavino, aka Manila Killa, is back with "Run Away" – a heartwarming and moving electronic track that captures the essence of wistfulness. This follows his announcement from this past summer to split from Hotel Garuda so that each member could focus on their respective solo careers.
Now, fully committed to his solo project, Gavino is ready to lead the charge in bridging the gap for Asian-Americans in a highly underrepresented industry.
The lead single off of his forthcoming EP, "Run Away" is a Manila Killa signature. Whilst more downtempo than previous releases, the track maintains his classic sounds and is a beautiful collection of synths, ethereal vocal stabs and reverbs – encapsulating the wistful nostalgia of future bass. From the calming build up to the mountainous yet silky-smooth melodies, "Run Away" is a luxurious curation of feel-good percussive beats that thrusts us into a velveteen world in which we melt into – a reverie of soft pastels and melting feels.
Manila Killa is currently on tour with Petit Biscuit. Purchase tickets here.
