The new single from Los Angeles -based Chandler Juliet is a smooth, glossy listening experience. The singer-songwriter’s beautifully textured vocals on “tidal wave” have you floating in water, taking you along the journey from sinking to surfacing.
Juliet’s forthcoming EP elements is comprised of four songs, each represents one of the natural elements: earth, air, fire, and water. Being her second released single, “tidal wave” is the ‘water’ fraction of the collection. This track has a sound that is almost mystical. Juliet’s voice rises against the quiet background strumming of the guitar into the pre-chorus, as more instrumentals meet her at the chorus and create a truly compelling and otherworldly track. On this single, Juliet is writing from a place of leaving adolescence:
“I wrote ‘tidal wave’ a month or so after I graduated college, where I really felt my adolescence was officially gone, and I felt more alone than ever. I was born and raised in Los Angeles, and while it’s a huge blessing to have been raised here in the entertainment industry, it can be very isolating and lonely in this career-driven town. Everyone has to go through the different waves of life, both the ups AND the downs. Everything is temporary, and through writing this song I discovered that I have to learn to ride the wave that I’m on, because nothing lasts forever.”
“tidal wave” follows her first single release off the EP, “burning sage”, which debuted on New Music Friday in the United States, Denmark, and Iceland. Let “tidal wave” wash over you and mark your calendars for elements, due out January.
