In preparation for their upcoming album, The Dirty Nil is delivering a fresh live session of their yet-to-be-released track, "That's What Heaven Feels Like." With pulsating reverb, guttural distortion, and larynx-shredding vocals, the track is a dose of good old rock n' roll. Originally from Ontario, the three-piece group puts on quite the performance. I can't get enough.
When I first saw the video, it felt like your run of the mill indie rock. And while I can't speak to any avant-garde tendencies in their sound, I eventually found the melody trickling back into my head. Not only that, but the power chords, emphatic lyrics, and all around raw charisma. Luke Bentham, the main vocalist and the video's focal point, takes what would be bland post-grunge and transforms it into scathing, genuine punk.
All that's left is to figure out a way to get past that sequin-studded button-down.
