The beautiful thing about music is that there is more than one way to go about writing it. Every element can signify a completely different moment, memory, or draw of inspiration. Originally, Dreweybear, a 22-year-old producer from Cincinnati, Ohio, and Julia Thompson's, an 18-year-old singer-songwriter from Cleveland, Ohio, "The One" started as a handful of vocal chops from Thompson's previous single, "Spark." Like most songs, it went through a plethora of revisions and studio sessions to come to fruition as a summer pop hit called "The One." This new track was written during a tough time in Thompson's life. It paints a picture of her previous difficult relationship through dramatic vocal drops and catchy melodies.
Opening with warm piano and a reverberated vocal atmosphere, "The One" quickly introduces Thompson's powerfully stunning vocals. These bright effects are heard throughout, being circled and pushed around. The drop is a culmination of these vocal chops, epic brass stabs, and a moombahton-styled percussion rhythm. Thompson and Dreweybear bring emotions full circle with this effervescent track on Elixir Records.
