LA-based alt-folk group Sci-Fi Romance have released their latest song "Voices," which we're excited to premiere exclusively today. Taken from their new album Dreamers & Runaways, the band seeks to raise consciousness through their songs and illuminate issues that run just beneath the surface. Each song on the album was written after the 2016 election and echo the intense protests that were going on at the time.
Sci-Fi Romance also draws from grunge influences on the new album, citing '90's favorite Temple of The Dog in a cover. Their music has been compared to Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Johnny Cash, and The Decemberists in the past. Their songs find the protagonists searching for a better fit, combining guitars, layers of live cello, blended drums and percussion and baritone vocals that tell the story seamlessly from beginning to end.
