We head out to Minneapolis, MN on this new effort by the three-man band who go by the name Bad Bad Hats. The band consists of Kerry Alexander (lead vocalist), Chris Hoge (instrumentalist), and Connor Davison (drummer) who prefer their rock to vary from pop to 90s alternative sensibilities.
Their newest release is the visual for their song "Nothing Gets Me High" taken off their sophomore project Lightning Round. The single itself is classic pop in all its glory, the guitar arrangements and melodic structure are well crafted. They keep it simple and catchy while Alexander’s unflinchingly sincere lyrics cut to the emotional heart of things.
The visual itself takes on a life of its own with its brilliant vivid concept. Director Dan Stewart opts for a modern-vintage style, putting the viewer in a first person view of things. The band, on the other hand, performs on four separate televisions that seem to appear and vanish at various points in the video. It is somewhat quirky but also reminds me of the Sega games simulator selection screen on PS4.
