Kevin Holliday brings summer smiles with his debut “Colgate” single

Newcomer Kevin Holliday delivers a brilliant summery record titled "Colgate". Not even sure of the exact genre we should place this in as it sounds like funk, soul, and pop. We admit it has some traces of Frank Ocean as well especially with the vocal stylings.

The self-taught producing Brooklyn native creates everything in his bedroom and is proud of it. His style has a blend of vintage and modern styles ranging from Prince, N.E.R.D., and Tyler the Creator. On “Colgate”, production wise Holliday teams up with drummer Caleb Matheson from indie band Lazy Bones to create a warm uptempo track that makes you makes you want to get up and dance. Holliday's laid-back vocal delivery fits perfectly over the layered guitar and synths. The song itself encapsulates that feeling you get when you are relaxing and life just won't leave you alone, whether it be a person in particular or a situation."

Initially, music started out as a hobby for him, but about a year ago when he began posting songs on Soundcloud, it developed into a passion. He puts his own unique and funky spin on the emerging "Bedroom Pop" scene. Although this is the first official single from Holliday, he has released four other songs on SoundCloud which all fit his groovy aesthetic. Get "Colgate" on Spotify and iTunes.
