For his first release of 2018 Ontatio's J.O. Mairs comes through with a gritty new track and video called "Lingo." This passionate voice has been honed over nearly a decade and the music speaks for itself.
On this self-produced track Mairs considers the short comings of his community, as well as similar ones around the world. The track opens. Chilling strings and keys begin, and the bass provide clues of the magnitude of what's about to be stated. As a result, bars on social commentary and personal stories ensue. In fact, Mairs is setting himself as quite the voice speaking on these issues. However, he didn't approach the track with this angle:
"I wasn't trying to come off as super political or anything like that. The hook just happened then the verse started writing itself." – Mairs
J.O. does a good job of mixing a more classic sound, with the melodic bounce of current hip-hop trends. Follow the links below to keep up with the journey of J.O Mairs.
