Macajey is the moniker of Estonia-based, California-raised folk-pop singer Jeremy Macachor. Today sees Macajey release "Journeys", the second single off his sophomore LP Surfing the Air, out July 20th.
Macajey moved to Estonia for love, and it is the Estonian landscape that inspired "Journeys." Of the song, Macajey says: "When walking home in Tartu in the spring and summer when the sun is already rising at 2am, it's really quiet and still and the forest and river nearby give me such a specific feeling that goes very deep," he says.
"Journeys" fits snugly into the album title. The whole surf-rock inspired track feels like riding a wave. It is slightly experimental and one never quite knows where Macajey is going to take you. It is sunshine-pop infused with watered down, mellow electric guitar and although on the surface it screams of sandy beaches and sun-kissed skin, something moodier lurks beneath the surface.
