Lenii proves to be more than just a "Pretty Face"

Singer-songwriter Lenii is set to release her second single of 2018 “Pretty Face” leading up to her debut EP.

As if it were straight out of an 80’s teen romance, this latest track is a synth-filled pop ballad. Lenii compliments an industrial backing beat with her playful, yet melancholy vocal painting a picture of desolation in a complicated world. Seeming to draw influences from the likes of CHVRCHES, Julia Michaels, and Ellie Goulding, Lenii is sure to make waves. "Pretty Face" was inspired by the Miyazaki film “Howl’s Moving Castle”, where a young girl gets cursed with old age.

"Getting older is something a lot of people (myself included) find pretty scary, especially the idea that your mind still feels young as your body changes. The glittery production of the song mirrors the energy of youth – with a kind of ‘Disney’ feel – while the lyrics urge people to look at each other as more than just “pretty faces”. I think too much importance is placed on appearance and it’s something people should realise doesn’t reflect on a person's mind." -Lenii
