Minneapolis recording artist Lucien Parker just released "Round Me," a wavy new song and music video. The track shows his melodic, alternative rap style. His sound is not confined by any box, and his voice is far from lacking.
"Round Me is a conversation," Lucien shared. “It’s a code. It’s shape-shifting and maneuvering and working just a little bit harder to survive. It’s about my feelings towards our racial climate, and sprinkled within are some of my own traumatic experiences. I wanted to talk about companionship and loyalty and race and gender, and give credit where credit is due – starting with my sister who helped raise me, my mother and her partner, and everyone else who has ridden the system that tries to keep us down.”
The music video, directed by Cold Creator, is as clean as the audio. Parker is seen in what appears to be an abandoned town in a remote location. He raps into the camera and is seen tagging presumably his name on a wall. The song and video are confident displays of Parker's immense potential.
