The fusing jazz trio Cold Light Ensemble is the brainchild of composer James Woodhall. The band's brand of what we call progressive cinematic jazz is a myriad of emotionally charged riffs, rhythms, and untethered improvisation. All these can be heard on the title track of the debut album titled "Let it Fall".
The record which is just a little short of the 4-minute mark shows the unorthodox manner the band used to explore all the possibilities of their unique instrumentation. This is improv on steroids as the listener is exposed to huge cinematic moments, driving grooves cascaded by the sublime beauty of the soft melodic strings. Get the album on Bandcamp here
"Let it Fall" serves as a precursor to their album which will be formally launched at the legendary PizzaExpress Jazz Club (Soho, London) on April 15th 2018 for a special lunchtime show, doors open at 12.00 noon with music from 13.30, so get your invites while you can here
