Break out the tissues because UNBLOOM has arrived with an absolute tearjerker of a tune. Premiered exclusively by EARMILK, "Chances" shows the Canadian electronic prodigy coming into his own with a poignant pop ballad which he not only produces, but also sings on. Needless to say, contributing vocals on your own song is a feat in its own right, but doing it with such fluidity is remarkable. This kid is a flat out dual threat with a workhorse mentality and surgical production hand, which put him on our radar last year as one to watch with his beautiful EP This Could Be Everything / This Could Be Nothing. In "Chances," UNBLOOM combines elements of future bass, chill trap and synthpop, all of which float seamlessly under an atmospheric, downtempo umbrella. What makes this track so special though, are the personal implications it has on its creator.
"2017 was my first year doing music full-time. In that same year, my father battled a life-threatening cellulitis infection in his left hand. The two events converging made me realize that second chances are not guaranteed to anyone. Although the song is a lament, it’s as much a call-to-action; to try and embrace the chances given and make the most of them."
