Venezuelan producer Felmax is firmly on my radar thanks to his evocative new track "Down" – a collaboration with Maazel featuring Sara Skinner (who, unrelated, happens to be my new favorite vocalist). When I crossed paths with "Down," I knew it was a song I would revisit time and time again, and that has undoubtedly been the case. My appreciation for its groovy grumbling bass line, warbled vocal cuts, and slithering layered sonic elements continues with each subsequent listen. EARMILK is proud to premiere "Down," and help tell the story of the unique artist behind its stunning sound. Brazen elements of trap and hip-hop coalesce with a gentle melody and pop sensibility to create a track with true staying power.
Hailing from Maracaibo, Venezuela, Felmax fled to the States to seek asylum from his home country. He soon became a local favorite DJ and producer in his adopted home of Miami, gaining influence and a strong following online. A remix of Iggy Azaleae's "Fancy" boosted Felmax into the forefront of the dance music scene, shortly followed by his debut performance at Life In Color Music Festival. With releases on DIM MAK, Trap Nation, Uprise Music, Spinnin Records and Firepower Records in the bag, the sky is truly the limit for this passionate creator.
