Clyde Shankle is scary good in "Spooky"

There’s something in the water. There has to be. With so many talented artists coming out of NorCal, there’s no other explanation for the city’s consistent churn of quality music. Case and point, Clyde Shankle and his latest flick, “Spooky.”

In “Spooky,” the South Berkeley resident spits razor sharp bars in the stairwell of his building. Not exactly the most excessive video on the market today. But that begs the question, does it need to be? No, it doesn’t.

With nothing but a handful of well-placed effects and a black and white filter, Shankle succeeds in making his video live up to its name. The video is damn creepy, especially with his relentless, chorus-less track and monotone rapping style. The flick cuts in and out of him in the stairwell, on an outside fire escape, and in an old elevator. All of which, when paired with Shankle’s delivery, give a haunting effect to the video.

Press play on “Spooky” above and be sure to keep it locked right here on EARMILK for more from Clyde Shankle.
