Nilüfer Yanya draws a line in the sand with her video for "Thanks 4 Nothing"

And she’s back! After a few months of silence since releasing her last single “Baby Luv,” the world’s next big Pop star, Nilüfer Yanya, has returned to drop the visual for “Thanks 4 Nothing.”

Released back in November as a live performance on COLORS, “Thanks 4 Nothing” is a haunting tune about finally calling it quits on something that should have ended forever ago. As per usual, Yanya is the epitome of cool in both the song and the video which matches the track’s grim vibe with an equally eerie visual.

About the video, Yanya said, "We wanted to make the Handmaid's Tale meets Pulp Fiction. It carries a strong outdated 70s vibe with occult twists where nothing really goes according to plan and nothing really happens. This echoes both the current political climate and the inner failings of a relationship, both cult-like in their own way and blindly following one another, shot on 16mm film for that cinematic effect."

If the above quote was the original goal of the video, the resulting flick nails it 1,000 percent. The heavy use of red, in both clothing and filters, gives a foreboding sense of dread and anxiety which tends to permeate failed relationships like the ones mentioned above. Yanya has a penchant for music videos that dive deeper than the lyrics and her latest Energy Force directed clip is no different. When it's all said and done, "Thanks 4 Nothing" is closer to a short film, than a simple music video. Expect everything from tarot cards and Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots in this 70's themed flick, while Yanya's ethereal voice carries the piece to its conclusion.

For those following along from across the pond, Yanya is embarking on her first headlining tour which will run through UK/Europe, starting early April. Be sure to pick up a ticket through the link above and keep it locked on EARMILK for everything Nilüfer Yanya.
