There's a special place in my heart for perky funk-infused electronic works and when it comes this sonic niche, Australian producer Opiuo always kills it. Not too long ago in December of 2017, Opiuo had unveiled "Botrok", the first work off his upcoming project "SYZYGY 01". Full of wonky and chunky bass, the producer had put forward a moody and textured track sure to get Opiuo fans pumped. "Botrok" also has sweet hints of old school 80s synths, adding an enticing flavour to Opiuo's signature sound which typically merges funk and eclectic bass.
Moving into the more upbeat realm of things, Opiuo has just unveiled "Ginger Lizard", also to be a part of "SYZYGY 01". The track is a colorful journey, as the producer utilizes that retro synth once again alongside a plump bass-line. The build-up is hypnotizing, with the additions of hard claps, feel good saxophone melodies and an undeniable groove. It slows down in the middle with a soft piano breakdown and sultry guitar, later spiraling listeners into the funkadelic madness. If you need something to beat the Monday blues, Opuio's "Ginger Lizard" will surely do the trick.
