Caleborate recruits Big K.R.I.T. for a remix of album standout "Soul"

New year, new verse. Yup, this is how all remixes should go down. Take notes, everyone! Take notes. Back in 2017, NorCal flame spitter Caleborate dropped his Real Person project. That project featured a slew of dope tracks, including (but certainly not limited to) “Soul.” Now, in 2018, Caleborate has released a remix of said track featuring Big K.R.I.T..

While it would be easy for Caleb to hand the original over to K.R.I.T. and call it a day, he doesn’t stop there. Nope. Caleborate takes things one step further and adds a new verse of his own to the song for our listening pleasure. And to quote the man himself, “I got no choice but live my dreams, so ain’t no sleepin. Fuck relax.” Peep the genius above.

K.R.I.T. opens things on “Soul (remix)” by addressing listeners of all kinds and instructing them to keep grinding. What’s noticeable about K.R.I.T.’s verse is his flow. K.R.I.T.’s been in the game a minute now, and his veteran status shows up in perfect form on “Soul.” He rides the Lege Kale produced instrumental with ease and finds workable sections midway through to speed things up and still stay on beat. This is a remix verse at its finest. He adds to the overall track with a fresh take that is on topic and still keeps to his style.

After his original closing verse, Caleborate comes back in to close things off with a final and fresh verse. As stated above, this is a boss move. He challenges himself to approach the topic of “Soul” again and in doing so puts even more of himself on display for the world to see. Caleborate admits to some of his fears, wondering if he’ll ever see success only to declare that he’d rather take a chance at this rap thing than never know. And damn, we’re glad he did.
