Late last year EARMILK covered a talented young singer by the name of duendita and her powerful, infectious and haunting single “pray.” Today, we get the honor of bringing you the video for that single. Peep “pray” above.
The video, which takes place in a church, finds duendita and a full nine-piece band behind her, garbed in white performing the song live. As beautiful as the original song is, there’s something magical about watching it build and grow right before your very eyes. What was an intriguing vocal pattern in the recorded version, transforms into a drama of tone shifts when viewed live.
A particular high point comes at the end of the video when duendita and her backup vocalists take center stage. The singers build off of each other in a beautiful crescendo before the strings come in and the camera slowly zooms away from the band.
