Welcome back, fam. It is officially 2018, can you believe it? It seems like just yesterday the music world was holding its breath in anticipation of new albums from Kendrick and Drake. And yet, here we are now with 2017 in the rear view and plenty of new tunes to discover.
A new year brings new opportunity, and for this industry, it brings new music. Take Burlington’s Vader The Villin, as a perfect example. In his latest video, “Still,” Vader gets contemplative. The video finds the all-around artist, who is just as skilled with a spray can as he is with a mic, taking a step back and looking at his life. Throughout the nearly three minute flick, we see Vader living it up with friends in the LA scene, and traversing the country solo.
Released on January 1st, “Still” is the epitome of a “New Years” song. Its vibe is slow and thoughtful. It feels and sounds like that point just after the New Year's Eve celebrations have finished and everyone takes stock of what happened in the year that just ticked by. And, for Vader, things went well and are looking bright, as he closes the song by singing, “if life rewinded, still don’t change a thing.”
