Dermot Kennedy has exploded onto the music scene in the past year, with his debut EP Doves & Ravens garnering millions of Spotify streams in the short amount of time since its release. His origin story is equally as interesting as his music—the twenty-five-year-old Dubliner shot to notoriety after Irish folk royalty (and one of Kennedy's heroes) Glen Hansard offered Kennedy ten minutes solo time at one of his sold-out gigs.
The video for "Moments Passed", which is directed by Kendrick Lamar alumnus and one of the top directors in the game right now Nabil, Kennedy uses the memories of an older man to further muse on the dichotomies of love and loss and life and death, both present in the stunning track. The vocal is emotional and passionate, something Kennedy has long been praised for. His instrumentation beautifully compliments some extreme song-writing chops. Of the video, Kennedy says, "the memories are his only consolation, and he relives them constantly in his head, pining for those times when he was young."
