R!OT & Patrick John Lu take it back to the 80s for "Wake Up to the Music"

This new collaboration between producer R!OT & Patrick John Lu got us triggered from the jump. Pulling all the stops, they revamped the melody from Kool & the gang's "Get down on it" and made it extra funky. The song in question is titled "Wake Up to the Music" and it's nothing but brilliant from start to finish. Mixing funk rhythms, R&B and hip-hop elements, the duo go to town on this jam.

The accompanying visuals go the extra mile to bring the aesthetics of the retro era to life as well, complete with strobe lights, a backing band, untethered audience getting jiggy (for a lack of a better word I guess) and an unorthodox dance choreography to match. The combination is just pure awesomeness and while it seems this single may be a one-off collaboration, we do hope they come together for more funky cuts in the nearest future. For those that don't know R!OT is a concert pianist, film composer, producer, and controllerist while Patrick John Lu is a singer/songwriter, guitarist, and cellist.
