Every time Markus Shchulz has recently appeared on EARMILK, it's been for a special and beloved project, Dakota. The German-American producer is widely known in the electronic community for the dark sound he has curated at his Coldharbour Recordings, but as Dakota, he looks to emotion and spirituality in his inspiration, leading to emotional, moving pieces of work. Now, he's announced he will release a Markus Schulz Presents Dakota album.
“I started reading, he says, like a lot!” “At home, in hotel lobbies, on flights, in the studio. I’ve always had a lingering interest in spirituality and the desire to make some sense of life. It’s something I share with people that are close to me. We like to chat about the nature of things like dharma, prajna, true-self – all that stuff. It is how – over time – the ‘Skies’ came into being.
Self-exploration and popularity amongst fans are surely just a few among many reasons that Schulz has taken on this project, as The Nine Skies will have a whopping 18 tracks. Out December 8th with the help of Black Hole Recordings, and will feature the four singles he has recently released.
