Multi-instrumentalist, arranger, and producer Sly5thAve delivers something unexpected to our ear canals in the form of the magnificent single "Shiznit." In case you don't know, "Shiznit" is a jazz-hop recreation of one of Snoop Dogg's song off his debut platinum album Doggy Style. While it was never a single, the song definitely brought the term "Shiznit" into the mainstream.

Sly5thAve's rendition of the song is smooth, groovy, and pretty much takes on a life of its own. Taking liberties with the soundscape, he employs a layered approach which blends jazz, hiphop and orchestral elements producing an eargasmic result.

"Shiznit" appears on the artist's forthcoming homage project The Invisible Man: An Orchestral Tribute To Dr. Dre, set for release November 17. The LP features acclaimed artists such as Grammy award-winning keyboardist Cory Henry, Will “Quantic” Holland, Marc de Clive-Lowe, Jimetta Rose, and more.

Born in Austin, Texas, Sly5thAve (aka Sylvester Onyejiaka) grew up listening to the contrasting sounds of West African music, soul and jazz. He carried these diverse influences throughout his formal training at the University of North Texas, into his work with sought after songwriter and mentor Philip Lassiter, and as a session musician in Prince’s New Power Generation band for two years.

Leading up to his signage with Tru Thoughts in 2016, Sly5thAve released his first solo album Akuma, and founded the ClubCassa Chamber Orchestra, arranging orchestral covers of Kendrick Lamar, Rihanna, and Drake.
