The megaduo comprised of Moving Castle's finest Manila Killa and Candle Weather made their second tour stop at cozy Hi-Ho Lounge in New Orleans Friday, and threw down a hybrid bass/house set that was nothing short of perfect. I'm not a producer, but I know enough about bpm to understand that blending these two tempos is not always easy. Clunky transitions typically ensue. But Hotel Garuda kept the vibes flowing effortlessly for 90 heavenly minutes. The next morning afternoon my roommate asked if it was well attended, and I admitted that I wasn't sure because I was in the front the entire set and never turned around due to getting an extreme groove on without cessation. Further reports show it was, in fact, packed.
In conjunction with the tour, Hotel Garuda revealed a collaboration two years in the making with another mighty duo of electronic luminaries – Lemaitre. "Dancing On The Moon" perfectly embodies the funky, festive, can't stop wiggling tone of its namesake tour. And the good news just doesn't stop for the HG boys, as this release marks their first with legendary indie imprint Mom + Pop (home to Alina Baraz, Jai Wolf, and Flume), where the pair just signed.
