When a music video is done well, it has the ability to completely take a track to another dimension. The excellent "Eyes Open Wide" visuals premiering on EARMILK today (which were directed by the incredibly gifted Helen Plumb) have done exactly that. The video perfectly fits flickering paints to intricate percussion, all the while Knightstown’s soaring voice floats effortlessly over the foray of increasingly complex colour interactions and shapes. Knightstown is the solo vocal/electronic project of composer and songwriter Michael Aston, and his latest single "Eyes Open Wide" offers just another glimpse into Aston’s diverse and eclectic influences that we can expect coming on his eponymous debut, Knightstown arriving on FatCat. Lyrically the song is an honest abstract meditation on the quest for happiness and the sublime.
