Almost seemingly returning to their Bay Area roots the once San Francisco, now Los Angeles-based indie rock group POP ETC are back with a heartwarming new track "Fingerprints". Having spent the last few years exploring new sounds and production styles, we see this group shedding the auto-tuned vocals, big room beats, unplugging the synths and hitting us with the comfort of a charming acoustic guitar hook, endearing vocals, and a cheerful upbeat chorus. We're loving this and surely so will you. Check it out below.

The release of this video kicks off their “Infinite Singles Collection,” a new music series from the band which promises new releases in batches of one or two songs every four to six weeks. POP ETC has had the wonderful opportunity to really evolve and challenge their musical craft over the years through albums like Souvenir, and it's wonderful to see them falling back in love with the sound that first inspired them and their fans. I'll let lead singer Chris Chu's words describing the track take it from here;

“Lately I’ve been writing songs on my acoustic again. I’m not sure what drew me to it exactly. When I first started making music I used to start every song on an acoustic guitar. Our first two albums (as the morning benders) were entirely written on acoustic guitar. Then everything I played started to sound the same, and I guess I kind of got burnt out on it. Recently though, just simple chords on an acoustic guitar sound beautiful and new to me again. It’s weird how a little time away can do that.

“Fingerprints” was one of those songs that came out quickly. I was just sitting on the couch absentmindedly playing guitar, and suddenly there it was. I had been thinking a lot about the effect that all the people I’ve met over the years have had on my life. Trying to trace the different threads and series of events. It’s really amazing to think about. Even those people you meet once, or the ones that come into your life for a couple of months and then disappear. There’s no telling who will come into your life and alter its course forever.”

Nobody's going backward, this is digging into your old catalog and redefining your classic sound. And now with the experience from their work dabbling in the fields of both electronic pop and indie rock, we can't wait to see what they have in store for us.
