Cincinnati, Ohio based indie band Motherfolk has begun to make a name for themselves across the Midwest through extensive touring and the release of two albums. They have just released a music video for the song "Ryder Robinson" to coincide with the announcement of a tour and the release of a deluxe version of their sophomore album, Fold, which features two new songs and two alternate versions of songs originally featured on the album, due out October 13th.
It's a fun visual for an equally track: the viewer is given multiple settings and costume changes all while the band contorts and performs within the camera's somewhat limiting frame, bursting out of your screen and into the forefront of your thought. Nathan from the band says of "Ryder Robinson", "In a lot of ways this song sums up our entire album into something fun on the surface, while still containing a lot of layers to dive into. The lyrics have so much imagery that we thought rather than come up with a concept for a deeper meaning for the video, it would be much more interesting to depict those images literally. The video follows a narrative that depicts the struggle and seriousness hidden in the lyrics of the song in a fun and lighthearted way, making it interesting for the viewer while still getting the message across.
Fold is out October 13th. Watch "Ryder Robinson" here.
