2017 was without a doubt Steve Lacy's breakout year with the release of his acclaimed Steve Lacy's Demo EP back in February, his high profile collaboration on Kendrick Lamar's DAMN. (on the track "PRIDE") & on Goldlink's At What Costs, and his steady output of inventive, aired out indie-funk singles.
Today the 18-year old songwriter/ producer has released a brand new single entitled "4Real", that has Steve experimenting with a much more psychedelic soul sound as opposed to the lo-fi indie aesthetic of his debut. The single starts out with a barrage of frantic drums hits and then dives right into a warbled guitar melody while Steve delivers a Prince-like falsetto over the mix. Listen above!
