EARMILK readers might already know the name Midnight Pool Party, as we've featured and premiered their music on the site several times. As a duo the pair made mainly dance music. Now singer and songwriter Darren Morilla, is breaking off to do his own solo thing. Last week he debuted his first record and it's quite the departure from what you'd expect on a Pool Party track. In the vein of sensual R&B electronica "Impossible" is MORILLA's first solo venture. The track is a personal vision for Darren who is an openly gay male. He remarks, “‘Impossible’ is (broadly) about putting your all into a relationship, but not knowing how the other person feels or knows what they want. As a gay man, I think one of the most important things for the ‘equality’ movement is visibility. The experiences and emotions I was experiencing were real when I was writing this song. I wanted people to know that I wrote this song when I was falling in love with another man, and show that what I experience as a gay man is no different to any other relationship. I wanted to stay true to myself and write about my experiences,” he said.
